RE: Seeking Solutions Questions to Address My Cousin’s Confidence Challenges
Hello Doctor, my cousin has been facing some challenges lately. He is 20 years old, and there has been a noticeable shift in his behavior. He tends to withdraw from social situations, even when I’m with him. Two years ago, he was outgoing and sociable. Despite receiving a job offer from an MNC, he hasn’t joined yet, as they may hold the position for him. During a recent family gathering, he abruptly left the house, citing discomfort about his appearance—specifically, feeling self-conscious about his nose and weight due to teasing from someone. Last year, he was reluctant to attend his grandmother’s funeral until we convinced him. Currently, he remains at home, and we suspect he may be apprehensive about entering a work environment. It’s possible he’s keeping his job placement a secret. Please advise on how to support him.
As per your history, it appears mostly that, he may be suffering from phobia associated with crowd called Agoraphobia. For this you need to take him to a psychiatrist for further management
